We’re supporting the National Business Crime Centre’s Safer Business Action (SaBA) Week, which starts today and runs until Sunday 16 November. This national initiative brings together police forces, local authorities, and business partners to tackle retail crime and anti-social behaviour affecting businesses and frontline workers. Throughout the week, officers will be visiting local businesses, retailers, and hospitality venues across Derbyshire to raise awareness of business-related crime and share practical prevention advice. This includes guidance on shop security, deterring theft, and protecting staff from abuse or violence. Business crime can take many forms, including shop theft, non-payment in restaurants, staff theft, burglary, and aggressive behaviour towards workers. Many incidents go unreported, and we’re encouraging businesses to report crimes to help us build a safer and more supportive environment. While SaBA Week highlights this important issue, our commitment to tackling business and retail crime continues all year round. Our officers work closely with local businesses throughout the year to provide support, share prevention advice, and respond to incidents that affect staff, customers and the wider community. We’re also promoting the ShopKind campaign, which encourages kindness and respect towards shopworkers and customers, helping to foster a more positive experience for everyone.
